Srinagar, Dec 05 (KNO): Residents of the Sakidafar area in Srinagar have expressed their frustration over the non-functional landline and broadband services of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) for the past 15 days, leaving them struggling with severe communication disruptions. According to the residents, the outage occurred after the main BSNL cable was reportedly damaged during ongoing Smart City development work in the area. Dr. Ghulam Qadir, a local resident, shared his concerns with news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), describing the situation as unbearable. “Our landline and broadband services have been down for 15 days. Despite filing multiple complaints online and contacting field linemen, no action has been taken so far,” he said. He said that the prolonged outage has disrupted dozens of connections, significantly impacting residents who rely on uninterrupted services for work, education, and daily communication. “The locals are appealing to the General Manager and other officials of BSNL to take immediate steps to resolve the issue,” he added. Another resident echoed the frustration, stating, “We contacted BSNL officials at Hariparbat, where the current engineer mentioned that they are unable to locate the twisted pair and fault. He suggested that locals should switch to fiber, also hinting that BSNL broadband services might be discontinued starting January.” Meanwhile, when contacted, a BSNL official assured that the issue will be looked into and resolved at the earliest—(KNO)
